Staying open for business during the Covid-19 crisis in Sweden meant that all restaurants, on short notice, were constrained to only offer food as takeaway. As an incentive and added service to MAX customers, Future Ordering built and launched curbside delivery within 48 hours.
MAX Burgers quickly decided to shift rather than shut down when restrictions for ordering and serving hit the fast food sector. With an experienced team and a flexible self-ordering solution, MAX could overnight offer table service and became the first Swedish restaurant to offer curbside pickup to meet new regulations. At a time when other restaurants had to close their business, MAX kept the burgers coming. But the story began much earlier, even if the shift was made overnight.
With around 150 self-operated and franchise driven locations in several countries, MAX Burgers are well known for their delicious burgers but also as a front runner in digital capabilities. Since 2008 MAX has enabled ordering through app and kiosks, driving digital transactions to over 85% of all sales.
Through a long alliance with Oracle Gold partner Future Ordering, they already had an omnichannel strategy in place when the corona virus spread around the world.
This enabled MAX Burgers to see possibilities when others saw obstacles. The strategy covering multiple user journeys and unifying sales at all touchpoints enabled MAX to quickly close down some sales funnels as well as enabling others, without disrupting operations or sales.
